Sooooo looking forward to sharing reading books and sight words with you again! It is very exciting for the children, parents and us teachers to be reading together again! ๐Ÿ˜

We are sending reading books home with the children today (Wed 16th Sept) although this will usually be done each Monday at the beginning of a new week.

These are the books the children have read in class last week, so your child should be quite confident in their reading. It will give them a chance to share their reading from school and discuss the text with you. At times, children may come home with unfamiliar reading books (ones not practised in school) and this will be to extend their reading.

Please keep the book at home for the week and do not send it backwards and forwards with your child. Books should be returned to school each Monday when a new book will be issued. Our first return date will be Monday 21st September.

We are also sending home High Frequency Word strips to some children. These words are sight reading words and should be read confidently with little sounding out, although the initial sound is always a great clue/strategy in helping to read the word. Please spend a little time each day (or when you can) helping your child to read these words. We would appreciate your help in checking when children are ready to move onto a new block of words so when you practise sight words with your child tick off the ones they can read confidently. When there are three tricks in each box, this means they are secure. At this point send the strip back into school on the Monday with the reading books and we will move your child onto the next block of words.

We are so thankful for your help and support. It makes all of the difference to our learners and we appreciate all of your time and effort that goes into growing our confident and successful learners. โค๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ
